What to Do After Each Window

If resolved in your favor

Request a free updated credit report. Verify the correction appears on all three bureaus — fixing one does not automatically fix the others.

If result stands

You may add a 100-word consumer statement to your file explaining your position. Consider a furnisher dispute directly with the original creditor under FCRA § 623.

If no response after 30 days

The bureau may have violated FCRA. File a CFPB complaint immediately and consider consulting an FCRA attorney — violations are actionable. CFPB complaint →
